My Story

Hi, I'm Amanda, founder of Help in a Handbasket.

This business was born from a simple belief: no one should have to face life's hardest seasons alone.

Like many women, I've experienced my share of challenges. I've navigated trauma, loss, grief, financial struggles, divorce, single parenthood, and the difficult journey of rebuilding my life when everything felt uncertain. There were seasons when I felt overwhelmed by circumstances and wished there had been more support available. Not just practical help, but a reminder that someone cared.

During some of the most difficult chapters of my life, I learned how powerful even the smallest act of kindness can be. A thoughtful gesture, a helping hand, or simply knowing that someone sees you can make all the difference when you're struggling.

Those experiences challenged me and made me stronger and I decided that when I got through it, I wanted to provide support to women like me who were struggling and lost in the system.

As a mother of two, a wellness professional, yoga and meditation instructor, and psychology student, I've dedicated much of my life to understanding resilience, healing, and personal growth. Through years of helping others improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, I've seen firsthand that people are capable of incredible strength when they feel supported and empowered.

That's the heart behind Help in a Handbasket.

What began as a love of creating thoughtful gifts that were different from your typical, cliché bath bombs and candles evolved into something much bigger: a mission to combine gift-giving with giving back. Every basket is designed to do more than deliver beautiful products. It is an opportunity to create connection, spread kindness, and remind someone that they matter.

A portion of every purchase helps support women facing difficult circumstances, whether they're experiencing financial hardship, grief, health challenges, family transitions, or other obstacles. Through donated baskets, subsidy programs, and community support initiatives, our goal is to provide encouragement, dignity, and hope when it's needed most.

I know what it feels like to be in a season where life seems overwhelming. I also know that healing, growth, and new beginnings are possible. Sometimes all it takes is one person, one act of kindness, or one reminder that you're not alone.

My hope is that every basket we create carries that message.

Thank you for being here and for supporting a business built on compassion, community, and the belief that small acts of kindness can create lasting change.

Together, we're helping women move from surviving to thriving, one basket at a time.
